Glossary

Gaskets- seals that usually come in the form of rubber rings or seats, may also come in plastic or a hybrid rubberized plastic.  Some newer faucets and fittings use ceramics which are more durable but a tad bit costlier that rubber types.

Patina – oxidized copper that is greenish in color that protects the underlying copper by shielding it.

Scale build-up – the mineral deposits that clog up pipes and shower heads minimizing effectiveness in their operation and use.
